Who am I?
A home cook, chemist, and former IT manager looking at creative ways to bridge the distance between the news and the dinner table.
Starting with personal accounts and restaurant menus you will find recipe links geared toward the home cook to bring the culture of remote locations to your dinner table with the help of your local ethnic markets or internet powerhouses such as Amazon.com. Where possible the ceremony and traditions of the meal will also be provided so you can know when and how to rattle you cup or slurp your soba!
With the growth of eco and luxury tourism on the internet it is now possible to take virtual tours of many regions far from capital cities and traditional tourist destinations. Local legends and lore often contribute to the color of cuisines even within countries. This section of the posts will help you find virtual options for history, museum and local culture walks through the back roads and alleys around the world.
No matter where you get your news from unique first hand accounts are becoming more and more difficult to find. Mergers and costs have collided to make wire service accounts more discoverable, but local independent perspective more of a challenge to uncover. With each post I strive to bring both the mass market and the local together to help you read more than one account.
I’m taking Darren Rowse up on his offer to provide daily tasks and tips to improve how I write, where I find inspirations, and build a community. I am not an affiliate… I don’t get a cut if you decide to pay the $ for the e-book rather than follow along by e-mail, but I thought people might find it helpful to know when a post was prompted / helped / pushed past my comfort zone as part of this program…. This page is whole cloth part of the Day 1 assignment – the Mission Statement. Here are some of the questions that are posed that you might not normally see on an About Me page:
All I learn for mass market news is 5 minute sound bites after a sensationalized headline.
I want to know more about the people and area of the world where the story takes place and bring that lesson to my home.
Parents – teach culture and diversity through healthy meals
Students – Current event resource for school homework
Foodies – Break out of the franchised stereotypes of what a region’s cuisine can be sold easily in a mega mart.
